Somerset pubs on the edge

12/6/21 A long bus ride to Burnham was needed to get started, followed by a walk along the beach to Brean. The Sundowner cafe/bar is just off the beach in one of the holidays parks. We had two pints of Sharp's Atlantic (4.2%) for £8.80 when sat indoors. Seemed like a nice place. Then it was a walk back down the beach to Burnham and a decision about which pub to go in. The scaffolding outside The Victoria Hotel is for a 'covid secure outside area'. Plenty of room inside though. We had pints of Butcombe (4%) and Tribute (4%) for £7.20. Seemed ok again. Just down the road is the Railway and on the front is the Reed Arms. We went into both, but there didn't appear to be enough staff to serve us. So we left both. Island Bay is on the front and they were serving us a bit quicker. It is clearly not a pub. We had pints of Moretti (4.6%) for £9.40. We did go to the Somerset & Dorset next, but I'm not sure it counts as being on the edge as there are pubs between it and...

 29/05/21 It's been a while. Since lockdown had been eased a few weeks before, we had been walking to surrounding villages in search of open pubs. As more pubs had re-opened, it was time to restart this journey. The Falcon service back to Rooksbridge seemed the obvious choice. From there it was over the motorway to Eastertown. The back roads were quite busy and we ignored the occasional sign on the footpaths suggesting that we shouldn't enter private property to arrive at the Hobbs Boat . Attached to a Premier Inn, it is clearly setup for their customers. After going through the regulatory checks, we were shown to our table and consumed two pints of Doom Bar (4%) for £7.70. It was just before noon and there were no other customers, but the beer was fine. The straightest way to our next stop would have taken us along a busy country road with no footpath.
